Your Friendly Neighborhood Aurelian Sunglitter upon rivers that ripple and run fast; mist over lakes ringed in emerald walls. Pollen and smoke wafting up and down city hills, as further tors mount in the distance. All conjured here in layered laminae of ambiance, out of which arise melodies both familiar and striking, like the unexpected voice of a dear friend finding you as you walk the river paths near dusk. Fernmage's pinked, engoldened musings (with ever the undercurrent of green) equal their craftwork’s charms, likewise cast. Favorite track: Beyond this valley (our scenic backdrop is home to towering snow kissed peaks of stoic beauty, and it’s fairly unlikely that a volcano will erupt without warning so yeah, I’m sure it’s fine).

The anticipated arrival of a wayward compeer, in completion of a long and tumultuous journey or as a quick stop along the path, often calls for an eve of gaiety and good humor. If your guest is of high community standing, it may call for a elaborate fete. Merkins and Jerkins encrusted with quartz and silver, robe and cape, staff and sceptre, would be all but expected garb at such an event. However, this is not always an option, as the mighty Cascades can be unforgiving and unapologetic with its choice of variable and often inclement climate conditions.
Which means, sometimes a small tankard of chilled berry wine, and the combined wild foraged bounty’s of your bindle are as appreciated when shared as the warmth of a down duvet and a Doug Fir log, embers aglow inside the jamb stove.
It is customary among the numerous Mages and Majik Folk who hold Strongkeeps or Safeshelters along the travelers paths, to provide reprieve from the road for a friendly face or well recommended stranger, if only for the length of a pipe and a bit of Brackenlore. Most likely a second pipe, as well.
Some brief and antidotal, others exhaustive and long winded, but always both expected and reciprocated amongst host and traveler as a gesture of deep appreciation and respect for the company and hospitality. These short stories are sometimes presented as a narrative monologue, a song or dance, a theatrical reenactment of previous events, the presentation and explanation of rare goods or artifacts acquired along ones journey, drawings, illustrations, etc. there is almost no wrong vessel for the sharing of Brackenlore. (Excluding of course, the long known accursed and forbidden scrolls and grimoire, which many argue have been lost to time. Or so deeply and malevolently sequestered that only the shadows peer upon it’s fell keep.)
Within this cassette tape is the first of a few short collections of audio tales, compiled by myself, your very own Cascadian Consigliere, Fernmage. The specific collection of tales within are most traditionally “told” in a setting that affords the slacking of the shackles of responsibility, and the requiescence of safe shelter and affable companionship.
